I’ve always been intrigued how sadness/depression brings out a creative side in some people. Mark Rothko, Kurt Cobain, Friedrich Nietzsche spring to mind who have created masterpieces in their own right and most likely would not have without their inner demons.
Maybe it is just a way for our minds to cope, to have an outlet and for better or worse I think there is something beautiful in that too.
